Satellite Events & Initiatives

Satellite events and initiatives are community-organized activities that take place around PyCon DE & PyData — before, during, or after the conference days (19–24 April 2027 in Heidelberg). They are run by and for the community and are open to everyone; a conference ticket is usually not required.

Past and ongoing examples include the Feminist AI Hackerspace, the Django Girls workshop, PyLadies meetups, and the open-source Sprints & Hackathons.

Propose a satellite event or initiative

We welcome proposals from community groups, open-source projects, and individuals. To propose a satellite event or initiative, contact us with the following details:

• What — the name and a short description of your event or initiative
• Who — the organizers and the audience you want to reach
• When — preferred date(s) relative to the conference week
• Where — your own venue, or whether you need help finding space
• What you need from us — promotion on this site, scheduling coordination, contacts, or anything else

The conference team reviews proposals on a rolling basis and will get back to you with next steps. Accepted events are featured on the front page and promoted through the conference channels.
