PyCon DE 2027: We're Heading to Heidelberg
published: · by
We're excited to announce that PyCon DE is moving to Heidelberg for 2027, a new home for the leading conference for Python and applied AI with open source.
19 April 2027 — Masterclasses & Django Girls 20–22 April 2027 — Conference at HCC 23–25 April 2027 — Sprints & Hackathons
We're also proud to announce that Prof. Dr. Eckart Würzner, Mayor of Heidelberg, has agreed to serve as Schirmherr (patron) of PyCon DE 2027 and will deliver the opening remarks.
Heidelberg is one of Germany's most beautiful cities — and one of its most serious research towns. Home to Germany's oldest university, founded in 1386, and a dense landscape of scientific institutions, it's a fitting new stage for a conference that has always lived where open source, applied AI, and real-world practice meet.
For us, this move is more than a change of venue. We see Heidelberg as a chance to take PyCon DE to another level — a catalyst bringing research, industry, startups, and the wider tech and innovation community together, in one place, for one intense week each spring.
Since 2011, PyCon DE has brought together more than 2,000 people from research and industry, from over 60 countries — every year, always sold out. The program is peer-reviewed, not sponsor-placed: 100+ curated talks, plus masterclasses, sprints, and satellite events. Talks are recorded and published freely, reaching around 180,000 subscribers across our channels over time. An established Code of Conduct, a diverse speaker lineup, and dedicated programs like PyLadies and Django Girls keep diversity a working standard, not an afterthought.
PyCon DE is organized by the Python Software Verband e.V., a non-profit, with Pioneers Hub gGmbH as institutional partner supporting our diversity and education work.
Program, call for proposals, tickets, and more are on their way. Follow us on X, LinkedIn, or Mastodon, or subscribe to our newsletter on pycon.de, to be first in line.
See you in Heidelberg.
